Operating across Southeast-Asia, Omise is one of the largest digital payment services providers in Thailand. Our payment solution is simple to set-up and works seamlessly across multiple devices. We connect and maintain relationships with processors and acquirers, letting our merchants focus on building great products.

Why we need you

We are scaling up! Omise is under-going a period of sustained growth and we are expanding. One of our most important attributes is our belief in promotion from within and ensuring we do what we can so that our engineers have long, successful careers with us. Part of that goal is to bring on exciting, thirsty new talents and have them become an integral part of our engineering team; and start the beginning of hopefully a long, successful career here at Omise.

In order for this to happen we believe that it is in our interests, as well as yours, to give you a great start and introduction to the world of Engineering; having you learn and contribute to all of our projects and technology.

What you will be doing

Fundamentally, you will be doing the same as everyone else, in the shortest time possible! This means contributing to production in a short space of time. We want to get you part of a project as soon as it is the right time for you to do so.

Since all of our engineers, including our graduates, have full ownership of their projects, the responsibility means experience in managing a project from its inception, to celebrating completion. It means having real experience of managing that project in its entirety since that can be getting involved in systems architecture: scalability, redundancy, self-healing applications. It could be architecture, databases, devops, containerisation, logging, and monitoring. It could very well be research into the next product: will it be horizontally scalable, fault-tolerant, partition aware? How many requests a second must it satisfy? What happens when it goes down?

We’ll be there to help you of course; the best way for success is to gain real experience of what our software engineers are doing. As such… you’ll be doing what our software engineers are doing!

Basically you will be somebody that is excited and driven by technology. As a minimum you will be proficient in at least one object-orientated language and can demonstrate that you have written systems using more than one language. It is imperative you are a genuine self-starter: motivated enough to learn and research by yourself; you don’t always need somebody to show you what needs to be done. All Omise engineers need to learn new skills as part of their own career development and it will be important for you to kickstart your career and engage in this also.

Our most successful graduate hires have been able to demonstrate an interest in technology beyond their educational experience: personal projects, blogs, GitHub contributions, stories of coding before ever reaching university. It is that passion and interest in technology we have seen to be key for rising up the ranks and becoming an important member of the team. Of course, we are also interested in education: all candidates should be able to demonstrate previous success in their studies, particularly programming modules and courseworks.

In similarity, candidates should be able to take some part in a technical discussion; that they would have some core knowledge and more importantly the ability and the confidence to apply that knowledge that they are able to engage in a technical discussion about a real-world problem. That could be how to achieve a higher-level of redundancy; increasing performance, pro’s and con’s of containerization.

This position is based in our Bangkok Head office. You are eligible to work in Thailand immediately from position commencement. We're an international team. Therefore international level English language skills, spoken and written, are required. Thai proficiency is a plus.
