Why we need you

Omise is in rapid expansion in Asia and SEA, where each market demonstrates different challenges and opportunities. We are looking for a person who can actively support our markets in Japan. This position is to be based in Japan. But frequently collaborates with teams in Singapore and Thailand.

Omise Payment is hiring a KYC Analyst to identify and get to know our customers through evaluation and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes. In addition, this role involves improving our KYC processes and performing daily operations to comply and achieve compliance with AML/CFT, Card Scheme and other relevant regulatory standards and policies.

Omise allows online businesses in Thailand, Japan and Singapore and Malaysia to accept payments in a sophisticated yet simple way. You will help us manage the complex web of regulatory compliance that goes into providing our customers with a seamless means of processing their payments.

What you will be doing

  • Review merchant applications and verify that application data is complete and meets establishment standards.
  • Collect and document data necessary for application approval.
  • Responsible for enhanced due diligence reviews of merchants.
  • Perform regular KYC checks with existing merchants.
  • Support in documenting, improving and automating KYC processes.
  • Effectively arrange suspicious activity reports in compliance with established regulatory guidelines and time-frame.
  • Regularly communicate any matter of compliance and risk with teams, which include other offices in different locations.
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding their management of risks in their responsible areas
  • Participate in the risk management procedure to ensure the operation of risk assessments


  • Knowledge of AML/KYC specifically for payments and financial services.
  • Previous experience in a merchant acceptance role is an advantage.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance at card schemes is an advantage
  • Ability to converse in Japanese and English on a business level (written & spoken) is a must
  • Good attention to details, ability to “connect the dots” , and demonstrate good analytical skills
  • Able to work quickly and decisively: combining efficiency with competence.
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels, with the confidence to provide support to team leaders and management level through good interpersonal skills, good communication, cross-cultural skills.
  • Possess strong interest in financial industry and quickly adopt Omise product knowledge, related compliance, and regulations
  • Prior experience and motivation to develop further understanding on the regulatory landscapes related to electronic payment, financial services and software development services.

  • Experience and knowledge in Fintech related companies in Japan is of high advantage
